Clove was the female tribute from District 2 in the 74th Hunger Games.

Biography

The girl tribute from District 2, Clove was an expert at knife-throwing and surviving.

As usual, Clove and the other Career Tributes teamed up together at the beginning of the game with the addition of Peeta Mellark. Usually, bands like this kill off all other tributes first, and then kill each other at the end, when the suspense and thrill is high. But the Career's band surprisingly did not last long at all. Clove and Cato where both the last remaining survivors out of the original seven members in the band.

Early on in the book, Katniss Everdeen sawed down a tracker jacker nest, landing on the Careers' group. Clove was able to escape with Cato but her ally, Glimmer, died.

Victims

Indirectly, Rue was one of Clove's many victims. Clove had the idea for the trap that Marvel laid out. Rue walked into the trap empty-handed, and was stabbed with a spear.

The Feast

The feast was Clove's biggest scene. All within that scene, she threatened Katniss with her life and was killed.

Cato was far off, scouting, when Clove caught Katniss and approached her with her knives. She admitted to being behind Rue's murder, and was obviously quiet pleased with herself. Clove promised that she would give Katniss a slow, painful death, outlining her victim's face with her dagger, and preparing to strike.

Death

Right when Clove dove in for the kill, Thresh picked her up and threw her against the ground.  He then took a nearby rock and bashed her skull in, causing internal bleeding. She was alive for just a very small amount of time before she bled to death internally. Thresh spared Katniss because she had protected Rue throughout the Games, and told her that the only reason he wouldn't kill her was "for the little girl".
